t-minus one day

I so wanted to blog about last weekend's Farm Fair, like how it totally brought out the kid in me - I think I actually whined about wanting a pony ride - and about the awesome new stuff at the Bishop Museum ... but I am just too beat to say much more yay for local agriculture, gorgeous flowers, yummy food, and family outings like back in the day.

SY 2008-09 has officially begun, though we don't get our new kiddles until the day after tomorrow. I had a dream the other night that we had already started, and I was team-teaching with my former CT, Annie. Everything in the classroom that I had already set up was divided down the middle with masking tape - cupboards, shelves, desk space, everything. Strangely, I didn't care.

Two of my sweeties from last year stopped by to visit this afternoon, all excited about their first day of middle school. They reported that their teachers were funny, their classes (just 9 minutes long today) tolerable, their uniform shirts hopelessly uncool. I love when the kids come back to visit - older, taller, some of them wiser. Usually they are less sweet, a little pricklier and wilier, but since this was Larissa and Abby's very first day as sixth graders, they're still relatively untouched by the cynicism that runs rampant through the halls of middle school.

Time for bed ... one more day of prep before mayhem ensues.

Cat, I gotta say I love your descriptions. How exciting that you'll be teaching a new class tomorrow- yay!

Oh and the farm fair sounded like tons of fun- can't believe it was only one weekend though...
