dayone

I love them already, and I had a great day. But all I want to do at this very moment is go home and soak my head. It's the first day since I quit soda that I've really, almost painfully, wanted a cold Dew. And not from just any fountain. I want a cold Mountain Dew from Panda Express. Panda Express never messes up their soda.

So yes, I love my kids and am excited about this year. Even though they are the only group I've ever had to scold before formally meeting them. No, that's not entirely accurate - I did preface "Watch your language, sirs" with "Good morning." And I might as well give The One a name already, because I know I will be blogging about him a lot - possibly daily. I shall call him ... Buddha.

Snapshot assessment: This is a high-energy, lovable bunch. They talk incessantly and get a kick out of irritating each other. The sweet-looking ones are hiding devil horns and pitchforks; the ones who came with terrible reputations really want you to dig past them. And that's really the only way to have a successful year - pan carefully for the best in all your kids, no matter what their files say. By the end of the year, they'll shine and you'll feel rich.

Onward ...

In other news, I went for a mini-run yesterday. Performance-wise, it was totally unremarkable. What's notable is that I fought to squeeze it into my schedule, I enjoyed it, and I felt better when I was done. I'm getting somewhere. In baby steps.

Well, I went for evil librarian but without the glasses.

I wish I could post a pic of "Buddha." He and his sidekick, "Little Buddha," are cuties.
