one sweet day

The doorbell ring on my cell went off while I was at work yesterday. Mailman said he had a package but didn't want to leave it at the door because it was raining. I begged him, said I would be right there (a lie; I wouldn't be done for another two hours); he said okay, so I buzzed him in. Found a box from the popcorn people and a Halloween note from Bay Area friends Ed and Kelly - sweet!! Even though we had just come back from dinner at mom and dad's, S. called a package of chocolate candied popcorn and I scampered off with the cheddar. A handful later we swapped bags (too sweet, too salty) and S. eventually gave up, but I made my way through 3/4 of the cheddar and 1/2 of the chocolate before calling it a night. Egads.

Anyway, it was all packaged in a fun felt pumpkin that I wanted to take to school, so I emptied the rest of its contents (cookies, taffy, candy corn), hid most of it from S., and filled it with chocolate candies. I got my first compliment from the drive-thru cashier when I bought my ITNL this morning: "Ho da cute yo' pumpkin!"

Love. It.
