splish splash

I've kicked up the swim workout to 22 laps (1100m), have managed to connect the laps so each leg is a minimum 100m (instead of pausing at each 50) and am pushing for more 200m legs along the way, for the first 12 laps. The last 10 I try to do nonstop; even if I have to slow it down to a glacial crawl, the key is to keep moving through the water for the final 500m.

Yesterday I noticed that I wasn't feeling that satisfactory, beat-up feeling after the 22nd lap. Which means I have to intensify (more 200m legs should do it) or add laps. My immediate preference for the latter option tells me I should focus on intensifying the workout, maybe throwing a stopwatch into the mix, and maybe adding just 10 percent in distance every other week.

The 5K is this Sunday. I've been running, and wrunning, here and there, but I still can't achieve haven't achieved the level of enthusiasm that I've reached with hiking and swimming. Hiking hurts, but I relish that pain. Swimming is inconvenient and monotonous but I love the progress I'm making. Running hurts and bores me and so far I haven't made any progress (except if you count not quitting.)

Yagh.

I think you need a new iPod.

a new ipod, that's good. but you need something to keep you mentally in the game. and i do count "not quitting" as improvement.
