giddy-up

My first-ever foray into the Friends of The Library Annual Book Sale stacks. I miss it EVERY YEAR. I was so excited to be there, I cannot tell you. Okay, I can.

YESTERDAY was fantabulous. I mentioned the beginning, but didn't get to blog about lunch, dinner, and lovely presents. Went to lunch with Ms. Bonnie, who took me to The Wedding Cafe @ Manoa. Sammiches and soups, salads and desserts - it's girlfriendy heaven. Tons of wedding resources, of course, but who can concentrate on scalloped stationery when there is the most amazing pumpkin crunch you've ever had sitting on a plate before you? I had a chicken Caesar and mango iced tea, thinking I'd eat light because I knew dinner was going to be heavy, but the salad was substantial and I felt anything but light when I finished everything. Topped it off with peanut butter chocolate dessert and the requisite pumpkin crunch (not to mention the yummy mango iced tea) ... heaven. I could not even think about red velvet cakes or chocolate wedding favors when we were done eating.

Had dinner with my family @ Hanaki (also in MMP). Any buffet with crab legs and a prime rib carving station is blog-worthy, but my favorite part of the Hanaki buffet is the California Angel, a California roll topped with spicy mayo, then oven-baked to warm perfection.

Scott surprised me with a diamond heart pendant that I saw at Maui Divers a couple of weeks ago. I had remarked on it but not lingered, because we were there on a wedding band-seeking errand. But he remembered that I liked it. He bought it later, and sneakily stashed it in my purse last night when I wasn't looking and gave it to me at dinner. All of my aunties heartily approved of Scott's great taste.

I was beyond surprised, by the way. We had gone iHOPping and puppy "shopping" on the fourth, and he had gotten me a backpack for hiking a few days before that, which was perfect for me.

And that was my birthday. BTW, the bag (the bag!) finally arrived, and I love it, and will blog it on candiedcat when I can get someone to take a decent pic of it. My pics of late are muddy and color-askew because my computer, the one with Photoshop, died a sad and untimely death. :(
