Hainstock got life, which I think is appropriate. Some people thought it was too harsh, given his history of abuse, but people, he got life, not death. Now he can get help. Not even the worst, most ineffective administrator deserves what happened to Klang, and hopefully this is a wake-up call to all involved in education - the scope of which goes so far beyond reading and math - whether we like it or not, whether we think parents should do more or not, when you choose education, you choose kids. All humans need compassionate attention; kids who hurt and don't know how to deal with that need even more. I'm not saying that we should all don kid gloves - I believe in zero tolerance for violent behavior in schools and toward children. Zero tolerance doesn't mean retaliation or condemnation, but immediate and effective rehabilitation.

Can you see good - or, at least, do you want to see good - in all children? If not, stay the hell out of education.

By the way, someone needs to copy edit the Wisconsin Journal. Geez.

Ah, just more proof of Wisconsin's fine education system don't you think? Thank goodness for spellcheck.

Now this is evil... His wife was wearing a shirt that said "John Klang is my superhero." To me a superhero don't get shot like Superman... he might be a hero, but he's not a superhero. Most superheroes live, that's what makes them super. I laughed a little when I thought of it. Sorry.
