memo

HELLO, I HAD THE OIL CHANGED. The oil change guys couldn't figure out how to turn the light off, so they asked for the manual. I AM NOT A GIRL.

... Uh, I mean, I am, but I'm not that stupid a girl, ya wiener.

>:I

I didn't even read this, I just liked the title.

JR: That police officer died.
Me: I know. Did you know him?
JR: No, but my mommy did. She's a cop. Last night she told me and my sister and brother that if she dies, my sister gets 34 percent of everything and me and my brother get 33 each.
Me: (Silent, mentally adding. OK, that's a hundred percent. I ... need ... more ... sleep.)
JR: And if she dies, Poppy Sakamoto has to take all of us.
Me: How did you feel, talking about this with her?
JR: Scared.
Me: It doesn't mean something bad is going to happen. It's just good to have a plan, just in case something happens. Probably nothing will, but it makes adults feel safer knowing that their kids will be taken care of in any situation.
JR: Yeah. But she said if Poppy Sakamoto dies before her, it's all screwed up.

This morning I got cocoa from Starbucks and some holiday cheer from a stranger, and petted a strange dog. My Wednesday is off to a good start ...

ok fine. so you have a more complex problem. the water sensor is malfunctioning. there's several things that could be wrong: the actual sensor is bad or depending on what year your car is, the anti-tamper stuff is malfunctioning. it happens. gotta hook up your car to a diagnostic machine to find out for sure. unfortunately, it'll cost like $80 to fix. unless it's the actual sensor that's bad. the cheapest fix is to turn off the whole system.

hehe, my friend had that permanent "chk eng" light. when i made a comment, he stopped the car and opened the hood. "yup, engine's still there." got in and drove off.

so you not that stupid a girl huh? wanna come over and help replace a master cylinder and heater core in my car? i'll throw in a free lunch.

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a change engine oil light being turned on, reset the system.

After changing the engine oil, reset the system by performing the following steps:

Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine off.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the change engine oil light is flashing, the system is reset. The light will flash for up to 30 seconds or until the ignition is turned off.
If the light comes on again and stays on for 30 seconds at the next ignition cycle, it did not reset. You will need to reset the system again.

apparently, the above is for a vue

"For the Ion, you push the trip odometer reset button once, that brings up a message that reads something like oil life then you hold the button in for 5 seconds and you'll hear a beep."

My SL didn't have an oil change light.

I hear if you pop the hood and lovingly caress the engine's bottom it may relax just enough so you can reset it. At that point, it would require you to remove and insert the oil dipstick in a quick and vigorous fashion until viscous fluid spews from the tail pipe. But that's only hear say.
