yup, it's just me

The title is a quote from "Sex and the City," when Miranda was condo-shopping and the realtor kept inquiring if it was "just her," as if it were kind of a shame. She purchased what appeared to be a freaking museum in terms of square footage and aesthetic value and then started having anxiety attacks because yes, it was just her, and she realized she didn't want to die alone and/or be eaten by her cat.

Well, the building I like is not pet friendly, so I guess I won't be eaten by my cat.

Yay for Sunday indeed. A full day of hunting and fishing, plus a few bonus stops and nice surprises. But the bottom line remains: If you like it, you can't afford it. If you hate it, you can probably afford the monthly if you're willing to eat Sapporo Ichiban and drink tap water while sitting on the floor watching the beige wall for entertainment for at least a few years. Them's the breaks, young'un.

We saw some crappy units (maybe 6 total), some annoying features (a lot of pink paint, for one), and some just plain weird stuff. But naturally, I fell in love - this time it's a 1/1 with a Carrie Bradshaw closet and brand-new w/w carpet, new appliances, and a bathroom with a window. The closet is really what sold me - which reminds me of my love affair with the cupholders - but there were lots of other GREAT features. The bldg being right across the street from a large park was a selling point for me. The community gardens, the pool, the library. Later on the phone M said they had seen some sketchier looking characters walking around the area, which combined with minimal security is not so great. I hadn't seen anything suspect because at the time I was on the phone with the realtor who was explaining a lot of stuff to me that I'd never heard of before. I also talked to a loan officer for about half an hour last night, getting the skinny on the market and being told to set my bar WAY lower. It was all very educational.

We'll see. Obviously my thoughts are scrambled; obviously I teach out of a love for kids and not for hardwood floors and second bedrooms. So we'll see.
