though you say you're not a templar man
Finally got around to It Happened at School: Two Tales by Susie Morgenstern, translated from the French by Gillian Rosner. Charming enough, but it's possible that some things just didn't translate well. Oh, and the second tale ("Le Fiance de la Maitresse,") supposedly a love story, irritated me to no end. My favorite character was the school cook, Madame Ferrari ...
Got another Arrow order (again, for May) ... the inside flap says "Dear Teacher, Congratulations on completing another school year ..." HA! THAT is what I hate about May leaflets being mailed out in March. You and your glossies can look, think, and plan ahead - bonus point bonanzas, six-packs for next year's lit circles - but I am stuck in the Testing Now behind two maniacally orange doors, and neither of them lead to Disneyland. Early picks: The Second Mrs. Gioconda (E.L. Konigsburg), A Week in the Woods (big Andrew Clements fans in here), kira-kira (Cynthia Kadohata, Newbery), and for all who insist that good books are born in Hollywood backlots, Aquamarine by Alice Hoffman.
Math Session 2 today. Tomorrow and Friday, 3 and 4. Then we are home free for five days, sandwiched by two weekends. I like the thought. I have so much to do ...
