such a pretty number
Made it five miles last night! Vacillated between Ala Moana and Kapiolani Park for our workout - ended up at AM. Minus the interesting smells, it was a good run. We tacked on the Magic Island loop, and running by the people settling in to watch the sunset was great - possibly greater than the sunset itself. The quiet respect that everyone has for everyone else's moment is awe-inspiring.
I know I already mentioned this but something else that totally (as my dear Cub would say) trips me out is how not miserable all this running makes me. I think I have cleared the fine and elusive threshold between "what does not kill me makes me stronger" and "how many miles can I kill today?"
For a great number of runners, five miles is one short warmup. For me it means 1) I could now run that 5K, at a decent pace, nonstop (super big deal for me; makes me wish we were starting our year with a 5K); 2) I can run six miles (if you can run five, then you can run six, and SO&SF); 3) Monday will rock.
Clearing mental hurdles one at a time.
