yums and yucks
Running deliciously, devilishly late today. Not solely because of the fact that I took the time, for once, to make my own lunch - but that definitely had a helping hand. I am ashamed to say that the turkey croiss I made myself this morning is so much better than the sammies I make S on a daily basis. He gets: two slices of deli turkey between two slices of Oroweat Oatnut bread, and only one slice gets a (thin) layer of mayo.
Anyway, moved the kitchen stuff around. This whole space used to be the microwave's home (we have a HUGE microwave - which is a luxury that requires us to do without other luxuries, like large chopping spaces). I moved the micro to the other counter to open up the space next to the sink as our prep station. It's a little smaller, but not having to constantly pivot to scrub, rinse and discard stuff is a plus.
Speaking of comestibles, I have been a terrible mom to our cat, Miss Calypso Shirley Maclaine, this week. We're running low on cat food so I started opening cans of tuna for her, figuring that 1) I should eat less of the stuff myself, 2) it's actually, holy smokes, cheaper than the cat food we buy her and 3) it must be very nutritious, right? El super wrong. I mean, the four cans I've fed her so far won't kill her or anything but it turns out that regular feedings of canned tuna are not a good idea - major vitamin deficiencies, mercury, etc. Sorry, Cal. Mommy sucks.
HSA next week ... followed by Speech Festival. Lots of stuff on our plates. Huzzah!
