princess consuela bananahammock it is!
Feeling very productive and very deserving of the muy grande tea I splurged on this morning! Today was Document Name Change Day. Started w/the DMV - very lucky that I missed the SSA turn or I would have started with Social Security, which would have been a mistake because there I had to surrender the one copy of the marriage certificate I had on me. Dillingham DMV was nice and empty, and I was outta there in 15 minutes.
I paid for 1:24 meter time across the Prince Kuhio Federal Building, but spent less than 20 minutes in there too. The majority of my time was spent tying my bag handles in a knot to send it through the x-ray machine w/o the contents spilling out. The waiting room was overflowing BUT I didn't have to wait because if you're requesting a new card for name change due to marriage, you just fill out the form, drop it in the box with your certificate, and they mail everything back to you within two weeks. Awesome.
The only snag was at the bank, where I had planned to finally change everything over and finally deposit our wedding checks, but guess what they needed? The marriage certificate. Of course. But the PB helping me was so nice I couldn't even be mad about the last person who 'helped' me by telling me I'd need just my new HDL and not the marriage certificate. Guess I'll be back there as soon as SSA mails my stuff back to me.
I got two and a half out of three major things done before 10 a.m. Contemplating starting everything else - credit cards, etc. - for which I had reserved tomorrow. Other options: go for a run while it is my favorite rare kind of weather - sunny with a chill - or go borrow someone's technology so I can print out the PaperBackSwap mailing label that I need in order to send Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde to whoever requested it something like a week ago. (I'm sorry!) ... OR just grab a book and enjoy what is left of Spring Break, day 1.
Hm. Decisions, decisions.

no copies? always make copies. lots of copies. learned that in the army. never part with the original.
what else you got planned for spring break? not saying that trying to find a print on your checks that fit "princess consuela bananahammock" isn't an effective use of spring break, but it's spring break! go out, stay up past 2am, fight a morning hangover. have fun.
wv: unprelyz - the opposite of prelyz.
well, see, they don't want a copy. they need a CERTIFIED copy, which is not a xerox copy. you copy?
i am planning on doing at least 1 wild and crazy thing this spring break. keep ya updated.
wv: clessess. As in: I will not be teaching clessess this spring break. waitaminute, yes i will. damnit.
They only gave you one certified copy? When I changed my name I was sent four, and I didn't even have to request them.
