Another 'would we, could we?' ... I could comfortably abstain from frivolous shopping for a week. Uncomfortably for a month. Don't think I could do it for a year. Levine is, after all, talking about everything from new clothes to wine, which her Italian partner likens to water. I'm sure that if hair gel was on the line, then so was a pack of gum, or even new socks if you had perfectly good ones in the drawer at home. New pens? Not until all the medium-point Bics scattered about the kitchen junk drawer run totally dry. My lilliputian effort: I spend $2 a day on tea, and am unsatisfied with it 60 percent of the time. So yesterday I bought a box of tea (20 days' worth) for $2 at Safeway. Let's see 1) if I can make a satisfactory replacement for my morning drive-thru ritual and 2) if, then, I can find some other tiny frivolity to expel from my daily spending.

Got home from Thanksgiving @ Kaneohe by 7:30 last night and was tryptophanned out in the living room by 8:15. I think S. peeled me off the (world's most uncomfortable) couch at 10 or so, and 10 hours later, I am ready to go.

The TDL: buy toothpaste (but not from Wal*Mart), address the last of the invitations, mail out the last bridesmaid dress, have lunch with hunny, pick up parents from airport. Do not under any circumstances get sucked into anything resembling holiday shopping. However, if there is some way to slide in an "Australia" matinee, by all means, begin trying to spend less frivolously tomorrow.

P.S. Blog love! HABBERDAY 2 DAN!!!

thanks zeb. i'll tell though, you know what really made my birthday? get the invite to the wedding. of course now i'm faced with the +1 problem. two choices, bring one or find one to hawaii.

i dunno if i could go a year without buying. most of which i buy falls into the category that they abstained from.

i suppose it is better than be trampled to death though, so there's that.

Speaking of shopping, did you check out any of the malls today? OMG, it was madness. There was hardly ANY parking at Pearlridge, which is usually empty. I'm going to blog about my morning in just a little bit. Happy belated Thanksgiving!
