Applied an adaptation of the Wussy Runner strategy to today's hike: Begin with a 5-minute brisk walk warmup (perfect, as the first five minutes of the trail are a gentle but steady uphill march). Settle into a reasonable pace (still pretty brisk; I did not want to come up with a worse time than K VIII). Throw in 10- or 20-second sprints every 2 minutes. Toward the end, I ran longer stretches, especially when it became evident that I could make it up in less than last hike's 38 minutes if I just pushed it a little bit harder. Thank goodness the trail to the tables is almost entirely shaded.

... and the rest of my day stretches out before me.

Went for 8 laps, then picked up ingredients for dinner. I have no idea the difference between Thai and Japanese eggplant. I hope it doesn't matter. Sounds like the beginnings of another great dinner, huh? ;)

the difference? eh, it's more of a cultural difference real. sometimes political views, but i dunno for sure.

congrats on the better time. soon you'll be running up it all the way.

political eggplant. well, i used the japanese because i'm more familiar with it. dinner ("spicy eggplant w/chicken") was ok. at least it didn't suck like it usually does.

thanks for the encouragement. :)
