i think i'm turning japanese
Itching to get back into the classroom. I want to get a jump start, to arrange everything (and see how much extra foot room there is with five or six fewer student desks - it makes a huge difference, believe me), to sort through what I pretty much swept under the rug the day before I flew off to Vegas, to get to the binder with my purchase order authorizations so I can start shopping for supplies. Not that I'm not enjoying my vacation - I am loving pretty much every minute of it. Every minute I get to sleep guilt-free, every minute of fresh air (who knew I'd be an addict?), every blog-worthy minute, every ridiculous minute, every single minute. Today I picked up S from work and we had lunch at ... a Japanese restaurant whose name I cannot, for the life of me, remember. It's a new restaurant on King Street, featuring teishoku, curry, and take-out bento. I do remember thinking, as we drove into the parking lot past the sign, that name is too long and not exactly memorable. Fortunately, the food is memorable - perfectly portioned (for lunch, anyway) and quite yumminy. S had chicken karaage, I had broiled salmon. It was so busy we had to flag a server down to take our order, as they seemed to have forgotten about us, but the server was properly apologetic and everything else about lunch was great. I'd definitely recommend the place - if only I could remember what it was called.
Above pic is not from that place, but from Genki, where S and I had dinner. We had planned to go see "Iron Man" but forgot the GMTs at home, so we ended up having sushi and walking around Ala Moana. On our way to Macy's to start picking out things for our registry, we discovered that Sharper Image (a ten-minute walkthrough = a trip to the circus) is CLOSING! Everything, including furniture and fixures, is on sale/for sale. In honor of Samantha Jones, fearless femme of Sex and the City - which I just saw for the second time (as Carrie says, "It's the dress!"), I give you ...

I really couldn't imagine taking it to the cash register. I mean, without a disguise or anything.
