First official day of summer. Always, for me, the BEST season of the year - because I've been a student or a teacher (at times BOTH) my entire life.

Mart wants to see this. It's one I've never really been keen on, but then, I've been told that this summer is a perfect time for things like Broadening One's Horizons. I must confess that when tied to a chair and forced to watch "Wet Hot American Summer," it was just as stupid as I had feared - and that was a glorious thing.

I'm excited about hiking today. I wonder if 8:15 a.m. is too early to wake the Mart. This is the hike that kicks my ass, so this summer I'm kicking it back. I did say something to the effect of hiking it every other week till it was putty in my hands (or under my hiking boots, had I a pair). So, whee, and I'm off.
