I think labeling any school a 'dropout factory,' regardless of retention rate, is as proactive and useful as labeling a troubled kid a 'waste,' or an unwed teen parent 'a screw-up.' These are school communities that, despite dismal retention statistics and challenging demographics, have great programs and push kids to go farther in life than their parents before them. Think twice before saying that that's not saying much.
