T(urkey) minus 1.5 teachable days ...

Ever wish you understood Farsi? Me, all the time. I'd love to read this book, for starters. Nearly every featured book on this daily list is published in Persian/Farsi, and they all sound like a hoot. I "flipped through" Excellent! How Delicious! and even though I can't read a word, the story looks hilarious. Art reminds me of Eric Carle and Leo Lionni and Nonny Hogrogian.

Speaking of hard to understand, say what?

Fortunately the president's visit did not mess too much with traffic in my neck of the woods last night, which happened to be Waikiki. Happy birthday to my mom's brother and sister - and kudos and crab legs to my whole strange family - embattled but not embittered, and always ready to eat.

I once knew a lady of Persian royalty. She was an Amazon woman, big. Not fat but just large framed. She said she was Persian and my friend said her family is royalty. Funny thing is that she used to work with me at the restaurant. Now I'm rethinking if it was true, what my friend told me. Hmmmmm. Come to think of it, maybe he was just boinking her.
