Check out Dan's rant on bullies in a box. Funny, Scott and I were talking last night about a topic related to violence in schools - the dad who recently went nutso on the assistant coach. Baseball, was it? Doesn't matter. It's a behavior template of rabid, victory-obsessed parents everywhere. The sad thing is, they all start out with their kids' best interests at heart. Interesting, how we choose to protect our children.
Wes Nakama says it all.
Anyway, the Peaceaholics (their name cracks me up) and the British police called for Bully's ban ... and Rockstar went ahead with development? Of course. At least GTA is marketed for adults (although they know very well that kids are going to get their hands on it). I'm tired of people pointing out constitutionally protected freedoms of speech and expression. I'm all for the Constitution, and I'm all for challenging kids to draw a reasonable line between the fiction of their video games, and reality. But I also value Common Sense and its rarely-spotted cousin, Common Decency. One could say we're fresh off the Amish incident, and I'm sure more than a few people still freshly feel the pain of Columbine. What are you thinking?
Stupid, stupid people.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
humans aren't born with things like decency or morality. they are constructs of society and must be taught to our offspring. these values are more time consuming than potty-training but more often than not less time is spent on them. why is that?
because we don't like our carpets to smell like pee.
