on a windy corner of a dirty street

Blogging from across the way ... My college pal and her bf went to Vegas for the long weekend so I am here in the twin building, feeding their sweet and enormous cat Cheddar, enjoying a totally different view than the one I have just a hundred feet away.

The weekend: Clubs and bars are just not the same since I stopped drinking (and subsequently dancing) - not that I did copious quantities of either to begin with - but I have to say that the Living Room is a neato place to hang out, because it really does feel like you're at someone's house. Other things about the weekend: I need to buy a Swiffer and I regret my latest piercing. I have also just decided that the tattoo is never going to happen. Sometimes decisions that involve letting go of a long-held dream of sorts (like Chicago, which I have also laid aside for now) bring a great sense of serenity.

As for CHI, the package prices climbed well past $2k (for a 6 night, 7 day stay on Michigan Ave and a flight that did not involve changing planes in Cincinnati). Too much. Tough to give up Tut, but maybe I'll make October Zilpha Keatley Snyder month.

Fantasy September's going swimmingly. I've finished half of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and have big plans to start on Eragon by mid-week ...

wait... did you actually use "neato"???
yeah, chicago tends to be expensive. but yeah, the money would be better spent on books. that's a lot of books and you don't have to leave your own living room.
