but then so does everything
Presentations, tessellations, after all-night obfuscations.
Witty me, getting deep, trying to rhyme on three hours' sleep.
... Shut up. Oh yeah, after I spent long minutes ordering a single medium pizza from a kindly but English-challenged Papa J's employee, he informed me that my total (for a two-topping medium) was $19.47. I said, "Are you serious? For one medium pizza?" "Uh, yes. Yes." "Oh. Thanks, nevermind."
Nineteen dollars for something that's gonna take five years off my life anyway seemed a very bad deal. Some things are easier to say no to than others. I just didn't expect it to be so easy to say no to pizza.
An aside: Inventory, how I hate you. Except for the part where we rip open boxes no one knew existed and ooh and aah over things we would just love to use in our classrooms ... now that it's MAY. Eeesh.
Last night's homework: Write a thank-you letter to a family member, telling them how they have helped you become the awesome fifth-grader you are. Mention specific ways they have helped you, and why you are grateful.
Dear Mom and Dad,
Thank you for helping me be the best 5th grader by supporting me and helping me do some of my homework. Well actually, sometimes you don't help me at all, but thanks anyway.
Love, S.
Dear Brother,
Thank you for making me become an awesome fifth grader. You gave me the looks, the brain, and the supplies. You taught me how to dress nicely and look really handsome. You told me what to practice, and what not to, and you gave me a lot of knowledge that I need in order to be a good student.
Love, J.
Thank you so much, Mom and Dad, for helping me in everything! Like, walking, eating, and talking.
Love, C.
Dear Dad,
Thank you for teaching me how to be funny, and for not getting mad at the little things. You have taught me a lot since I was small.
From, A. [who has not seen Dad since she was three]
Dear Dad,
You've made me proud I've been to school, something I thought I'd never say.
Thanks, S.
Got a mandatory all-day workshop tomorrow, back in Boonieland (this is part two). SBE rocks hard in theory.
