it's all about the chemicals
Fac~mtg yesterday was St. Pat's themed! Green tablecloths, green ice cream punch, salsa verde Doritos, and a greenish-yellow cake with soggy limey blobs (which tasted so much better than it sounds.) Most interesting goodie bag content: "Peace and Calming Mist." "A gentle, fragrant blend of Tangerine, orange, ylang ylang, patchouli, and blue tansy. Designed to promote relaxation and a deep sense of peace, helping to calm tensions and uplift the spirit." The use of this mist has reportedly worked wonders in some of the resource rooms. Stay tuned, because I'm liberally misting the area around K.K.'s desk this afternoon.
Okay, archdioceses all over the country, including Nashville, Detroit, and Chicago are being granted dispensations to allow for the eating of meat on Friday (St. Patrick's Day) ... but hard as I Google, I can't find info for Honolulu. It's not that I strictly follow the schedule of fasting and abstinence (that's abstinence of eating meat ... in case clarification was needed) or holy days of obligation. I'm mostly curious about protocol, jurisdiction of regional religious leaders, etc ... I'm not a big fan of non-hash corned beef in the first place; I'd probably take that dispensation and get a cheeseburger Happy Meal ... Oh yeah, I had a sip of the green punch, mostly to be polite, and I found it too sweet. Just maybe it will stick this time.
I have yet to see three of the noms but let me just say that after seeing "Crash" last night, I'm STILL not convinced "Walk the Line" didn't belong in the lineup. It was good, though ... I'll give it good. It's one of those movies that makes me marvel about the human capacity for heartbreak. Time after time, it shakes you ... doesn't shock with noise or gore (though given the subject matter and setting it certainly could if it chose to). Next up: hopefully "Transamerica" is still playing at Varsity.
